Worn effects (chipping)

Postby MatBarron » 12 Jun 2014, 20:40

Here is my how-to guide to chipping paint.....

Image

Stage 1
Nice and simple, just undecorated black.

Stage 2
The 'metal effect'. This was done by spraying Alclad Chrome at 15psi directly over the black.

Stage 2.5
At this stage you want to seal the base coat, I use a gloss varnish. Then apply the AK Interactive solution using an airbrush at about 10 - 15 psi. Cover the whole model with this.

Stage 3
Paint you top colour, in this case yellow for the Imperial Fists.

Stage 4
Using a stiff( ish) drybrush wet the area you want to chip, let it soak for a few seconds then start to gently rub the area...

Hope this helps.

Well I tried out the heavy chipping fluid from AK yesterday. The results are awesome definitely going to use this stuff again on a variety of projects. Will try and get some photos up later

Yes I have, the results weren't as consistent as the AK Interactive stuff (or anywhere near as good). I reckon you would need at least two pots of AK as long as you where selective where you applied the chipping fluid...
