Tempustus fire base.

Postby Deathguard nick » 01 May 2014, 22:02

I picked up my tempustus firebase today from Slayer/ dreamlike, bloody hell it's big!
I'm looking forward to putting it all together and getting some paint on it, I just need to settle on a paint scheme. Do I go with the standard blue/gray with rusty decking or the rusty sand stone ish dry brush look?

If the sole intention is use with dg, I'd go for what you feel would fit your chapters aesthetic. If you want to use it across the board then a generic look would be okay, though I find the gw generic colours a bit cliche.

I would like to be able to use it with multiple armies but I agree 100% the standard paint scheme just don't float my boat!

I'll get it all together and think about it some more.

The firebase is just the name of the set so I'll break it down, in the set you get;

Aguila strongpoint 535
2 x Vengeance weapon battery's (battle cannons) 170
2 x Firestorm redoubt's 400
Defense emplacement 40
1145

The Aquila stongpoint is a fortification on its own but to make the rest into one single choice you need to add a bunker and at least 1 defense line which brings the basic point cost up to 1280.
As point aren't tight each building can take a void shield @ 25 points each so that's another 125.
Now for more guns if you want the bunker and both redoubt's can be upgraded with a quad cannon @ 50 point each and you can add 4 heavy bolters to the strongpoint bringing the total to 1470.
For more fun give the buildings a machine spirit (bs3) to make the most of all those emplaced guns for 120 points. Total 1590 points.

To this I was going to add a home made void shield generator, comms relay and tangle wire/ tank trap obstacles to round it all off.

Sounds impressive. I think I'd rather be inside than running towards it, though! :lol:

The potential fire power is frightening;

4x heavy bolters, 8 twin linked I lascannon shots, 12 twin linked quad cannon shots, 2 battle cannons and a vortex missile per turn. Ouch! And all that at bs3 or better.
