Angry Gingers!

Postby venerabledread » 20 Apr 2014, 13:50

As we approach our first WFB event in August I have a dwarf army to build! Needless to say it will be as full of angry gingers as Christmas at me mams, so I'll record my progress here... when I make some!

I have many many slayers in my possession already in preparation for this, and some cool special versions that I'll post up once their painted!

As the army list requires dwarves of a less angry and less ginger nature to be included, ill post those up to if I bother getting any! Ill discuss what these are and the merits of other dwarf units in the other threads though... at some point!

Angry Gingers ftw!

Can't wait to see the horde. If you get multiple copies of gotrek and Felix in any of your job lots I would be very interested in them as always wanted a pair

I've almost got most of this built. When I return I shall attempt to post some photos, pre-painting! Goblin Hewer successfully added to the list!

I Just need to get a grip on the rules for ranks, to figure out the best set up for my third (and most powerful if smallest) slayer unit. 20 in ranks 4 of 5 or 2 of 10? All giantslayer level and above...

It always used to be the more ranks, the better. So I guess 4 of 5. 2 of 10 sounds more suited to missile troops.

If I've got this right in my head, ranks of 10 provide a third rank bonus attack (i think), meaning for my Slayers in large numbers extra attacks, but in the more elite formation of fewer models I can't make a third rank so it would seem pointless ranking in 10's when I could get the resolution bonus from more ranks.

Somebody stop me if I've git this wrong though please!

Well obviously none of us are masters of fantasy as yet but the only reason for ten wide would be to get horde bonus which is cancelled out as you don't have a third rank. 4 ranks of 5 means you'll be fighting with 10 guys but have the back ten as additional wounds to remove before you start loosing rank bonuses. I'm not sure what the best to advise is and maybe you need David to weigh in on that one
